Caught in the act of cuddling, Kiefer The Beagle and Yoda the cat GUILTY!
Here’s a happy me with a less than impressed Kiefer the Beagle (also know as the Reeg Beag)
ibtk:
This is Che. He was born and raised in a lab, for vivisection. More than 10 years ago I led a campaign to shut down experiments at the University of Texas, and negotiated with university administrators for his release. When we first got him out of the lab, he was terrified to walk on grass. He had known nothing but concrete.
Che died several days ago. It is heartbreaking to see him go. But it so much less painful knowing that, although he endured 5 years of hell, he spent 10 in the home of one of the most caring, gentle men I know.
I often look at these two photos of him to remind myself that we’d all do better to show even an ounce of the character of these animals. For me, they are a reminder to show courage even when you are too afraid to move, and to love even when you have no reason to expect anything good in return.
Rest in peace, Che.
This is beautiful. I’m so sorry for you loss, Will.
Such a poignant story. My most sincerest condolences. Thank you for giving him the life he deserved.

It’s Kiefer The Beagle’s 5th birthday today!
So I baked him some nice peanut butter cookies for the occasion! AND HE LOVES THEM!
Vegan Dog Cookies
1 TBS flaxseed mixed with 2 TBS hot water (let set aside until gooey)
1 C. peanut butter
2 C. oatmeal
2 C. flour
1/4 C. vegetable oil
Mix all in the blender… I admit it was truly difficult to get a good texture so I added a tiny bit of water to help the ingredients blend a tad better. I then worked the dough with my hands to incorporate everything (almost, everything).
Make small balls with the dough and flatten them onto the baking sheet.
Bake @ 300c for 20 minutes
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY LITTLE GUY!
